Research Focus
I am a Ph.D student in physics and am generally interested in understanding how students develop critical thinking skills in the context of experimental physics. I previously led the development of the Physics Lab Inventory of Critical thinking (PLIC), an assessment to evaluate students' critical thinking skills. We are currently using this instrument to measure students' critical thinking skills at Cornell and myriad other institutions to understand what features of physics lab instruction promote the development of critical thinking
skills. I am also interested in making research-validated assessments and data collected using these assessments more accessible to instructors. To this end, I have assisted in developing an online assessment administration system and online interactive data explorer for the PLIC and the Biology-Measuring Achievement and Progression in Science (Bio-MAPS) suite of assessments.
